Vintage Wrought Iron Courting Candle Holder, also sometimes referred to as a courting candlestick or a spiral candle holder.
Historical Purpose: These unique candle holders are rooted in early American legend, said to have been used by fathers to regulate the length of a suitor's visit. The father would set a candle in the spiraled holder at a specific height, and when the candle burned down to the top of the holder, it signaled the end of the visit. This one might be from the Amish Community.
