This is a vintage Afghan tribal mirrorwork textile, handmade using traditional shisha embroidery and patchwork techniques. The piece is constructed from dozens of individually embroidered squares, each featuring floral, geometric, and mandala-style motifs with inset mirrors. These textiles were traditionally made by Kuchi and Hazara women for dowries, celebrations, and decorative household use.
The textile dates from approximately the 1970s and shows beautiful age and patina. The surface includes a mix of hand-stitched cotton, silk-blend threads, mirror insets, and recycled fabric patches. The reverse side is lined with a pink cotton backing added for strength.
Condition:
Authentic vintage wear consistent with age — some loose threads, fading, and mirror oxidation. No major tears. Suitable for wall hanging, display, or textile collection.
Dimensions: ~70 in × 43 in
A vibrant and highly detailed example of Afghan tribal craftsmanship.
