The SeaStar Power Assist unit virtually eliminates all steering loads on the wheel and reduces steering effort in heavy or high torque applications to reduce driver fatigue and discomfort, just like in a car. It can be installed on new SeaStar installations or as an easy retrofit to existing systems by using an electronically controlled hydraulic pump to provide on-demand power steering. If power is interrupted for any reason, the steering will return to manual operation, but will, of course, be heavier than with the Power Assist activated. Operates on 12V or 24V and can be bulkhead or deck mounted.
